Today Bill Gates still reigns as the savior of geeks all around the world, and with all due glory. Now that many so-called "computer geeks" are becoming wealthy, the age of ostracizing the computer savvy is coming to an end. Although the road to true computer geekdom is long and torturous, the benefits are well worth it.

One of the first steps towards being tech savvy is by updating your current computer system to something worthy of the term "state-of-the-art" or replace it all together. Your PC should support multi screen displays. Not only do they look very impressive, but also serve the purpose of multi stream computing the way a true techy would.

Upgrade your PC by adding a little RAM (random-access memory) and install a dual monitor video card or two. A dual monitor adapter is available for those who don't want to invest the farm on upgrading a already failing system, and/or on a new system. Adding another hard drive would give you plenty of storage space and free up stress on your main drive.

Get a real dual monitor setup from the Multi-Monitor Store at www.multi-monitors.com. No need to purchase expensive multi monitor software if windows and good graphics cards will do fine.

A multiple monitor PC will have you shining like a knight of armour when you can pull up research while watching YouTube videos simultaneously. Sure you can say that you know how to upgrade RAM, but with a multi monitor display, seeing is believing.

"Easy Setup, Relative Affordability"

"Beyond the stellar productivity rewards and the obvious geek cred, there's yet another cool thing about a dual-monitor setup: It's easy to put together."

Tom Mainelli, PC World

Dual screen monitors takes you from crawling to walking upright instantly, however if you want to zip through multiple applications simultaneously in a flash, go multiple screen display. The less you have to toggle through windows, the more efficient you'll operate. Thus becoming a bonafide computer geek.

Important lessons from NY on Digital Signage Displays.

New York offers important lessons for Digital Signage Displays.

Often hailed as "the last mile of a marketing program", Digital Signage offers more cost-effectiveness, flexibility and control of product and service selection on location. Many retailers such as Nike, McDonald's, Safeway, Sears, Malls, Theaters, Clubs, Bars, and virtually any marketplace where capturing the attention is like grabbing money out of thin air.

"Build it and they will come" is the motto in New York. With an estimated $149 billion annual investment into advertising, advertising with digital signage is becoming increasingly more popular as pressure to get more results from advertisers continues to grow.

The shear numbers speak for themselves. With a overall rates of $2-6 CPM (cost per thousand) make digital signage an inexpensive media buy. Right now is the best time to get in because products that are profiles are realizing revenue increases of 30% across the board, and ranges form 109% for soft drinks and 319% for a new calling card. Large LCD signage in bank teller lines results in customer inquiries about new services. That being said bargain prices for such advertising is sure to rise significantly.

Use wireless networking for total reliability and zero content loss in performance.

Wireless networking can be effective for digital signage especially in highly obstructive environments. WiFi-Plus Inc. provided reliable, secure and cost effective connectivity for the 80 New York street level LED panels like the one you see above. It was the only option for NYC however it has proven totally reliable with zero content drop performance.

"Cost effective, reliable, fully secure and interactive image transport done wirelessly by satellite has long been used for Interactive Distant Learning and business television applications" said Larry Steinman, President and CEO of BTV+, which is contracted by some of America's largest organizations to deliver interactive content to more than 13,000 locations in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Digital Signage Systems Security

For those who are looking to install digital signage networks, remember that "it is imperative that great care be taken by anyone looking to get into this business to ensure that the integrity of the content is impenetrable by outside forces." said Rex Williams, President of UDN, which installed the New York network of LED displays over 80 of the cities subway entrances.

System security could be inadequate at the network design stage, or be exposed as digital signage systems expand and use multiple media transport providers (ISP - Internet service providers). Of course even the slightest risk is unacceptable. System security must be nearly "bullet proof" as far as hackers go. Those that use automated digital signage networks have to take steps to assure security at the content ingest, play - list management, display monitoring and other vulnerable points are protected from hackers.

Because of the vivid and eye-catching visual effects, digital displays superbly support commerce, public safety and information needs. Having the power to provide information at a point of decision or when information is needed underpins the value of this communications medium for advertisers and public service providers alike.

Print (static) signage locations place a value on retail location space, and revenue measures from stock turns, the margin per square foot show in comparison the "return on space" with digital signage displays provide the highest ROI. Adding benefits of use such as product promotions, branding, better customer relations, liability containment, and so on. Digital display advertising is the wave of the future today.

Bill Gates in the Office

In a recent blog Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates may have his hands plenty of dough but it doesn't come easy. In fact he wrote in a recent blog about how he juggles hundred's of email from colleagues, customers, and partners with a triple monitor display desktop computer. Of course he's going to be using Outlook 2007 for the job. He says he keeps the Outlook Inbox open on the screen to the left so he can see new messages as they come in. He goes on to say, "I usually have the message or document that I'm currently reading or writing in the center screen. The screen on the right is where I have room to open up a browser or look at a document that someone has sent me in e-mail."

As one of the- if not the, richest men in the world, Bill seems to use standard Microsoft products to help him meet his productivity goals. He has all voice mail, faxes, and even instant messages sent to his Outlook Inbox using unified communications technology integrated into Office applications. That also means he can always tell at a glance whether a person he needs to get in touch with is available or not.

He says, "Working with other people efficiently and effectively is more important than ever, not just for Microsoft but for any organization. I find that SharePoint, a software program that enables people to easily create internal Websites so they can collaborate on projects, has become indispensable."

Each year Microsoft will do what's called ThinkWeek where anybody in the company can submit a paper about an idea they have to change the way the company works or to pursue a new development project. Back in the day when they relied heavily on printed paper documents it was a challenge to keep up with it all. Now on the other hand, with a Thinkweek website he can browse among articles on his triple monitor system with ease.

If you are looking to increase your bottom line with higher levels of productivity then check out www.Multi-Monitor.com for a wide selection of dual monitor stands and multiple monitor accessories, plus multi-monitor computers and turnkey multi monitor solutions for digital signage and more.

Make a Big Impression with NEC's 82" LCD

With stunning graphics this LCD Displays size is second only to it's massive expression. He is helping to fund an energy start-up that may hold the key to ultra low emission and maintenance mega power production. Intellectual Ventures is the name of the company that is partially funded by Bill Gates and has a unit called TerraPower. TerraPower, run by a former Microsoft Corp. executive, Nathan Myhrvold, is reported to be in preliminary discussions with Toshiba Corp. on developing a small-scale underground nuclear reactor that would make nuclear power safer and cheaper.

A spokesman from Toshiba said the two sides were talking about how they could collaborate on the nuclear technology. He also said that discussions were still in the early stages and that nothing has been decided on investments or development.

These reports come from Japan however TerraPower said it has been meeting with the "nuclear community" and presenting at conferences but declined to comment on whether they met with Toshiba. So it would seem that Toshiba likes the idea more than most perhaps.

TerraPower has been publicly saying that its reactor technology could run for decades on depleted uranium without refueling or removing spent fuel from the device, making it safer and cheaper not to mention more socially acceptable than today's reactors. Even Bill Gates has described the device in interviews as being able to run buried deep under ground and capable of operating without human intervention, however would take years to develop. Currently the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission doesn't have a certification process for these type of reactors.

Toshiba on the other hand is developing a reactor that can operate continuously for 30 years. Along with TerraPower a small player in a field of established concerns trying to develop smaller, and safer nuclear reactors. Nuclear and Defense supplier General Atomics said it is working on a smaller nuclear reactor that would run on spent fuel, back in February.

As President Barack Obama is trying to spur new investments in nuclear power with over $8 billion in government loan guarantees announced back in February, Bill Gates' recent focus on nuclear power is said to be fueled by an interest in developing new power systems for developing countries. He also has made public his interest in combating climate change.

Green home living is nothing new to the Gates household who boasts much of their home in the ground where the climate can be controlled more efficiently. Bill also being a fan of using dual monitors on his desktop, has multiple screens and computer monitors throughout his home. Miles of communication cable, much of which is fiber optic, runs throughout the house, linking computer servers powered by the Windows NT operating system. You can walk through the house while your favorite movie or soundtrack follows you into each room.

Read How Bill Gates rolls in the Office to learn more:)

Driving With Multi-Screens

[caption id="attachment_819" align="aligncenter" width="630" caption="Hyundai offers built in navigation screen"][/caption]

As the designer of Futurama, the most popular exhibit at the 1939 New York World's Fair, Bel Geddes promised "you're grandchildren will snap across the entire continent in 24 hours on a new kind of highway and in a new kind of driver-less car that is controlled by the push of a button." That was in 1940 and in many ways inspired the construction of the Interstate Highway System. Seventy years later the stuff of science fiction is becoming the things in our reality.

Driver-less cars are now upon us with the help of newer mobile multiple monitor systems already making headway into our lives. Consumers today can buy cars that can steer themselves, accelerate and brake to maintain a safe driving distance from cars ahead, and detect and avoid collisions with other cars on all sides. This new breed of automobiles are already on the market today and will become increasingly available in 2010 and so on.

It's not unusual to be sriving down the road and notice a SUV or Minivan with two TV's inside. Even Hyundai Elantra's will have in-dash navigation screens this year. With some GPS screens and rear view screens, multi LCD screens will be in the cabin of most newer vehicles moving forward.

So how can we justify such selfish indulgences with no regard to safety?

Randal O'Toole, a senior fellow with the Cato Institute and author of "Gridlock: Why We're Stuck in Traffic and What to Do About It," wrote an article published in The Wall Street Journal called "Taking the Driver Out of the Car," in which he describes that driverless cars would be the most economical solution to many of our costly road upkeep over investments in railways and transit buses which other countries such as France and Japan champion. The average American travels 10 times as many miles on the interstates as the average French or Japanese.

Another idea is that the technology to have cars that drive themselves. This technology has been available to us for a long time now. In today's advance technoholic realm auto manufacturers are scrambling to be the best. Volkswagen says with their enhanced global positional systems, they can keep cars within two centimeters of their desired location on streets and highways. This summer, the German auto manufacturer will demonstrate its awesome technology by running a driver-less Audi at racing speeds up a twisty mountain peak road and once again, at racing speeds.

Modern cars already have numerous built-in computers that do things like anti-lock braking far more reliable than humans, especially those who are texting or inebriated. Because computer reaction times are faster, a driver-less cars can safely operate more closely together, potentially tripling highway throughput, and could virtually eliminate congestion and reduce the need for new road construction.

So what does that have to do with a multi display unit in your car? If you think about it, there may already at least dual monitors in your cockpit e.g. GPS, TV, rear view monitors, auto diagnostics, etc. . It wouldn't take long to need an extra computer monitor or two.

Graphics technology for your Computers Screen

With the new DirectX 11 API and a full range of DX11 cards available; many of which have been the talk of the industry long before their release, ATI is set to take your computer monitors to a whole new dimension. DX11 is focused on taking the lessons learned from the past and shaped them into a much more efficient API which will demand less system resources while being easier to develop for.

"The specifications alone on the HD5870 is a technological marvel considering it packs all of the rendering potential of ATI's past flagship card and then some while not being saddled by an inefficient dual processor design. It is said that the HD 5850 is making the biggest splash in the GPU market pool than any single chip flagship.

Here's a look at the current line up of ATI multi head video cards and as you can probably tell by the chart here, all the cards are good performers.

Unlike the past versions of DirectX, DX11 is moving past the purely graphics-based uses of the API and pushing towards being the lynch-pin of an entire processing ecosystem. Beginning with the power which DirectX Compute will bring to the table. Not only does it increase efficiency of physics processing and in-game NPC (non-player character) intelligence by transferring those operations to the GPU but it also be used to accelerate non-3d applications.

With all this GPU power it will be nothing less than spectacular views especially when using ATI's CrossFireX in conjunction with the Hydravision multi-monitor management software that enables you to more efficiently use the screen space available to your PC, and customize your PC desktop space to the way you work or play. Organize multiple applications across dual monitors.

If you want to utilize the very best that today's top graphic card technology has to offer, check out Super PC at www.multi-monitors.com for a wide selection of multi-monitor LCD Display accessories including dual monitor adapters and multiple monitor stands. Pamela Jones Harbour an outgoing Federal Trade Commissioner had a few things to say about Google in a series of three FTC privacy roundtables held this month. Harbour who is scheduled to leave the agency in April, delivered remarks that had some choice words for the Internet giant. Calling the company's decision to transform our private Gmail address books into public social networks, "foolish." Adding that the way Google handled the "Buzz" roll-out was "irresponsible." and says, "Google constantly tells the public to 'trust us,' but based on my observations, I do not believe consumer privacy played any significant role in the release of Buzz..... When Gmail users created their accounts, thy signed up for e-mail services, and their expectations did not include social networking."

For many people who value their privacy, this could be a huge deal. We the people often dole out all kinds of personal information on the Internet that allows identifying your name, your email address, even Social Security number. What many people may not know is that studies show that the typical citizen or consumer is identified far beyond the norm of personal digits, and may be hitting more home personally than ever before.

With services like Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr are oceans of personal data e.g. birthdays, photos, videos, and personal gossip. Computer scientists and experts say that such seemingly innocuous bits of self-revelation can increasingly be collected and reassembled by computers to help create a picture of a person's identity, and that includes obtaining ones Social Security number.

"Technology has rendered the conventional definition of personally identifiable information obsolete," said Maneesha Mithal, associate director of the Federal Trade Commission's privacy division. "You can find out who an individual is without it"

It turns out that in a class project at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that received some attention last year, Carter Jernigan and Behram Mistree analyzed more than 4,000 Facebook profiles of students, including links to friends. The pair was able to predict, with 78 percent accuracy, whether a profile belonged to a gay male.

Other companies such as Netflix awarded $1 million to a team of statisticians and computer scientists who won a three-year contest to analyze the movie rental history of 500,000 subscribers and improve on predictive accuracy of Netfilx's recommendation software by at least 10 percent, according to recent article in The New York Times. But have recently shelved the project amidst F.T.C. concerns.

"Personal privacy is no longer an individual thing," said Harold Abelson, the computer science professor as M.I.T. "In today's online world, what your mother told you is true, only more so: people really can judge you by your friends." Collected together, the pool of information about each individual can form a distinctive "social signature," researchers say.

Both Vitaly Shmatikov, an associate professor of computer science at the University of Texas, and Arvind Narayanan, now a researcher at Stanford University were able to identify more than 30 percent of the users of both Twitter and Flickr, even though the accounts had been stripped of identifying information like account names and e-mail addresses. Shmatikov says "when you link these large data sets together, a small slice of our behavior and the structure of our social networks can be identifying."

To make matters even worse, two researchers from Canegie Mellon University published a paper last year reporting that they could accurately predict the full, nine-digit Social Security numbers for 8.5 percent pf people born in the United States between 1989 and 2003 - amounting to nearly five million individuals.

Display wall, Computer monitors, dual monitors, multiple LCD displays

Stand Alone Multiple Monitor Video Wall Controllers

[caption id="attachment_758" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="9 screen video wall"][/caption]

Most people still seem quite unaware of the unique possibilities for tailoring displayed content according to Lars-Ingemar Lundstrom author of "Digital Signage Broadcasting: Content Management and Distribution Techniques." Digital signage has completely new ways of combining information from different sources, and getting an understanding of how the visual message in digital signage systems is put together is described in detail in his book.

Now there are video wall solutions for clients who believe that large displays are a must to show their presence in the competitive market. Introducing the Notions Ink "Adam" tablet an Android-based device using the latest-gen NVidia Tegra chipset and an innovative low-power consuming display from a company called Pixel Qi's. So how might this new contender hold up against its favored opponent the iPad?

From all known accounts, it looks like a good chance iPad has met it's match. Everything from size to functionality seems to be improved on the Adam.

One particular quality to mention in the Adam is the battery life, 16 to 160 hours! 160 hours of course isn't with the backlight mode on but still that's pretty good compared to the iPad which has up to 10 hours of surfing on the web.

The screen size for the iPad is 9.7 inches and the Adam boasts a 10" inch Transflective LCD which is remarkably clear even in the sunlight. Several videos are now available and the Transflective screen really does wonders in the sunlight. Also Adam is capable of outputting to a dual monitor with 1080p HD video whereas the iPad maxes out at 576p/480p via its optional component cable. This may be somewhat bizarre considering though the iPad has a little bit of an advantage with the on board display being 1024 x 768 vs. Adams' 1024 x 600.

Another very cool feature about the Adam is that it houses a 3MP Autofocus camera that can pivot 180 degrees to face the front or rear of the device. The camera allows you to video (say for live presentation or class) and take notes simultaneously. The iPad for whatever reason doesn't have a camera and some other tablets either don't have one or may even have two, one for the front and another for the rear.

On the back side of the Adam it has a track pad much like the touch pad on your laptop however it's in a position where your fingers are naturally located when holding the tablet. This makes it easy to use when surfing in browser that may require you to click links and so forth without having to bring your hand around to tap the screen for every link.

Over all the Adam looks pretty nice. Some things like the track pad being located on the back roughly where your left hand would be. Maybe they'll come out with a special one for slower right handed people:)

For more information on dual monitors, computer monitors, LCD Displays, and multiple monitors on your computer, visit multi-monitors.com:)

Multiple Monitor Computers | The Regular Guys Guide

Researchers Find Advantages in Multiple Monitors

According to a NEC-Mitsubishi Press Release I found mega surfing, Multiple Monitor Computers are on the rise in oticable productivity increases. It’s easier than the average non-techgeek might think, and this blog is going to give you step-by-step instructions on how to use this awesome feature built in the Windows operating system. The whole process should only take the everyday novice only a few minutes to get you out of the stone age of single monitor computing and into the now with Multiple Monitor Displays. This is a very efficient way to get that Dual Monitor Setup, and once you try it, you’ll never want to go back to one monitor again, I guarantee it. Instead you may be on the search for the most accessible Dual Monitor Video Card or at least a Dual Monitor Adapter to satisfy your new found productivity multiplier.

Reason why I love using a multiple monitor computer

The days when nerdy computer geeks isolated themselves in fear of persecution are far behind us.

Two Monitors please

Dual computer monitors can come in different designs, styles, colors, and types. Therefore it is important to have a general idea of what to expect. Whether its a light duty load or heavy duty load, the strength of your mounts will depend on what class it is.

A dual monitor wall mount can have many useful features to easily rotate the monitors, and to tile the arm to the desired direction. Mounting your dual display on mounts can have the advantage of saving space, the ability to move monitors in desired directions, ability to rotate monitors to view the monitor contents in a landscape or portrait view, giving those dual monitor backgrounds a good look. There can be other advantages to using a dual monitor screen stand as well.

Multiple Monitor Computing: A Significant Productivity Trend in its Very Early Stage of Adoption

Multi-monitor, also called Multi-display, Multi-head, and Dual-Monitor, is the use of multiple physical display devices, such as monitors, televisions, and projectors, in order to increase the area available for computer programs running on a single computer system. Microsoft describes this setup as "one of the best ways to improve your productivity". Randy Pausch recommended multiple monitors for improving personal productivity in his Time Management lecture. Contemporary versions of Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, and X Window System (used by GNU/Linux) all support multiple monitors. Dual monitor support once depended on specialized proprietary video drivers supplied with few video cards, along with a multi-display-supporting GUI system. Support for multiple monitor configurations was added as a standard feature in Microsoft Windows in Windows 98. It has been a standard feature in all versions of Apple's Mac OS X (introduced in March 2001), and was a standard feature of the first color Macintosh II introduced in 1987. By adding up to two additional video cards, the Mac supported up to three monitors, although operating system support for multiple monitors wasn't introduced in Windows until the mid 1990s. The all-in-one Mac SE/30 featured a small black & white screen, but could drive an external color monitor.

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="504" caption="Get it Now!"][/caption]

Google Has A New OS On The Way, Get A First Scoop Here...

Recent news talks about the Google lifting the veil on its planned Chrome operating system. Computers powered by the software will become available later this year and may pose a threat to Microsoft, whose Windows software powers the vast majority of personal computers and most of the multi-tasking world including trading computers.

The new operating system, which is obviously tied to Google's Web browser, also named Chrome is not trying to be a better version of Windows. Instead, it is aiming to shift users toward its vision of "cloud computing," a model in which programs are not installed on a PC but rather are used over the Internet and accessed through a Web browser. In Google land, a user's data will also reside on servers across the Internet, rather than their PC. Already most PC users rely on cloud computing, using their Internet browsers to access things like e-mail, photo albums and digital maps.

Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at net-books. Google already talking to partners about the project and plan to make it available to consumer's in the second half of 2010.

Google demonstrated an early version of the Chrome operating system on a net-book during a news conference at its Mountain View headquarters. The Chrome desktop looked similar to the Chrome browser. Using application tabs, which are meant to run the programs people use most, like e-mail or calendar software.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. Designed to be lightweight and fast enough to get you on the web in seconds. Figuring that most of what people experience takes place on the web, Google has gone back to the basics and completely redesigned the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates.

A net-book using the operating system booted in seven seconds, and Google said it was working to make the start-up time even faster, however they we're reluctant to share information regarding which hardware makers were planning to build machines that used the operating system, but said it would work closely with manufacturers.

Google is pushing to make net-books that are slightly larger than today's models and include full-size keyboards. I imagine this could become a rival to the ipad and the OX as well. Let's see!

triple monitor stand, Setting up dual monitors, multiple monitors

Get More Screen Space With Multiple Screen Galore!

Some of us are easily dazzled by technology and for Farhad Manjoo, (Writer for The New York Times) a trip to Google's sprawling headquarters in Mountain View, California was "a delirious experience" he says. In one article he mentions seeing a replica of SpaceShipOne, computerized toilets, and solar-cell-covered parking lots. However what caught his attention the most was what he referred to as "pedestrian" programmers' desks, and more specifically their computer monitors.

After meeting several Gmail software engineers, he discovered each sported a spectacular configuration of screens. Based in many different configurations e.g. pairing wide monitors with tall ones, huge screens married to small ones, and several displays in a series. He said the impression was "in addition to building a Web-based e-mail system, they were helping Norad keep tabs on the nations airspace."

For years now, we've all seen the multi-monitor displays in movies, on TV, and even in the real world. The many studies by specialists in human-computer interaction suggest that combining multiple displays can significantly enhance your productivity. The theory simply being that the bigger your display, the more of your work you'll be able to see and the more you'll be moved to do.

Global electronics company NEC, and researchers from the University of Utah conducted a study of office workers who regularly perform several common tasks. The only difference was they used various monitor configurations. The results clearly showed that people who used 20-inch dual monitors were 44% more productive at certain text-editing operations than people using a single monitor.

It wasn't long ago that multi-monitor displays were reserved for stock brokers, film editors, and Google engineers, but not so much for the average Joe in the office. However, prices on LCD panels plummeted by almost a third and continued falling thru 2009, making getting that dream desktop more feasible.

With that in mind Farhad decided to set forth upon a personal quest for multiple monitor Zen, so he got his hands on several displays and paired them up in every way possible.

First he tried using two 22-inch Dell wide-screen monitors side by side, creating one very wide screen that measured roughly 38 inches diagonally. Then, he rotated each display so that its long side ran vertically which allowed him to read a full document on the screen without scrolling. He said he even copied a style he saw at Google when he placed one screen vertically and the other horizontally- basically forming the letter T as if on its side with the wide screen used for working with side-by-side windows, and the tall screen for focusing on a single, long document.

He also tried a couple configurations with his laptop including one wide monitor and one tall monitor. He said to have found the "Cadillac Escalade of displays" when he combined an enormous 30-inch wide screen monitor to the equation, and confirmed the researchers' findings.

As office workers, we all know getting things done on the Internet can be very distracting, for even the best of wills. A typical desktop monitor 19-inch diagonal is really only the Honda Civic of displays. The world wide web is generally a wormhole that routinely pull us off track. Switching thru browser windows each time we look something up, but as soon as you do so, all traces of previous work will disappear from the screen and we forget about the original tasks at hand, and falling into a deep browsing trance, and wake up wondering how in the world you ended up on some other topic having nothing at all to do with your work.

A larger display may not remove all the distractions of everyday surfing, however it can blunt their force by giving you more room to position windows and still being able to see your work, you'll more than likely be drawn back to it sooner if you can see it.

Farhad had found that it wasn't just that multiple monitors reduced distractions; the setup also increased hid efficiency when he did finally get around to working, He would typically use two main programs when writing articles-Word and some other text editor in which he compiled all his notes. He generally switches back and forth from both programs simultaneously. Transferring pertinent data from emails or the web, then to Word documents, Excel spreadsheets and Power Point presentations.

Jane Payfer, as chief marketing officer at Ergotron, (the company that makes some of the most ergonomic monitor stands available today) says frequent tasks presents a cognitive challenge. Every time you bring up a new window on your screen, your eyes and brain need to orient themselves to the new pectura, a bit of mental processing that can slow you down. On the other hand, with a multi-monitor setup, the brain rests easy. Farhads notes can sit on one side of his dual screen while his Word document sit ont the other and he says when he focuses on one program he doesn't lose his place in the other.

All in all Farhad found that two 22-inch monitors, one placed vertically and the other horizontally, was a much more cost-effective way to bolster his productivity, than adding a 30" monitor.

One should note however in order to run this setup, you'll need a computer with dual monitor capabilities. This is achieved with a multi-head video card that can be installed or by using a multi-monitor adapter.

People who want more choose Multiple Screens

<colgroup span="1"><col span="1" width="162"></col></colgroup>

When People tell me about all the great things multiple monitors has done for them, I often chuckle just a bit because they hadn't found out sooner the overall impact of Multi-Screens functionality. Well that's more or less what is going on when you have to toggle to and fro from one window to the next, while using a single monitor computer.

It's only when someone gets a multiple monitor computer do they ever really get set free. Free from the headache of squinting eyes trying to pry through the fields of tabs or windows in the task bar. Having a multi screen application has freed me from such head trauma and I have since found the meaning of life on the Internet. It's not necessarily all about multi-tasking or even the extended ease of use that you gain when you have dual monitor software. Mainly it has given me the option to look further than I had ever gone before by giving me another window to work withI think many people would imagine a dual monitor setup to be expensive or even high tech, but in fact it really isn't all that difficult to set up and experience your favorite dual monitor backgrounds. Desktop PC's have become a staple in our home, office and for many life even. Why not go ahead and take a step forward and turn your single monitor computer into a Multi-monitor display that can add light and art to your space.

I often think of those people that use trading computers to make their living. I bet it sure is nice to sit at home and watch CNBC all day and make thousands of dollars in the process. Having spoken to a many of them, it originally surprised me that even they don't use multi monitor software to get their wall of stocking monitors up and going. In fact many of them start just I did buy adding just one extra monitor with a dual monitor cable of some sort. Some are OK but there's really only one worth spending your hard earned money on and that's the Matrox adapter available for free shipping at Super-PC.com. Sometimes I think that they were born with a multi monitor taskbar because they specialize in setting up dual monitors on virtually any computer still ticking.

Without Multi-monitor displays myself, I wouldn't get near as much stuff done because I run so many applications at once. Excel spreadsheets, blog site surfing and reading, email inbox, recording software open and ready to catch my newest little tune. Not to mention allot of unnecessary stuff to like gossip pages or latest nonsense the world media shoves down our throats on a regular basis. Even-though I may not always appreciate such things, I still get drawn to them like many people do. I guess overall it can be entertaining too. Nevertheless I wouldn't have the time to pay any attention to these things important to me if wasn't for my triple monitor stand. Every since I got my triple monitor setup going I can do about 50% more than I did with the Dual Monitor system I had from years past.

Iphone Capabilties Shine With Multiple Monitors.

Technological advances in the area of video and digital displays have evolved rapidly over the past decade. Just walk into a typical retail outlet, and you are practically immediately caught up in a wave of creative digital technology and the power of this new visual advertising medium.

According to Macworld there are 2,920 photography apps available in the App Store, and more are being added every day. As one could imagine, sorting through and testing each new feature- faux film filter, cropping, and tilt-shift tool- can become a job in itself. Fortunately iPhoneography.com, a blog founded by Glyn Evans back in 2008 has narrowed it down for us.

Here are Evans 6 favorite iPhoneography apps as posted by Macworld today.

Perfectly Clear: An instant photo correcter that sharpens and brightens any iPhone photo. At a cost of only $3 it will give you a split-screen to provide a before and after versions of your image. Its said that even when you think you have a decent image before it may usually looks dingy compared to the final product. Various settings including exposure, sharpness, and contrast can be adjusted.

Hisptamatic is the latest craze among vintage-film-loving iPhoneographers. What starts out as a (cost$2) app, this nifty app takes the analog/iPhone connection to another level by adding unpredictable (and irreversible) film character to photos by turning your iPhone screen into an old film camera with interchangeable film, flash, and lens options. You may also purchase additional "equipment" from within the app, 216 possible effect combinations in total.

The Classics: AutoStitch and Color Splash have been available in the App store for quite some time already, but their popularity hasn't waned. Each one of the apps do exactly as their names suggest. AutoStitch (cost$3)creates panoramas from a deries of overlapping iPhone photos. Color Splash (cost$2) turns your entire image black and white and allows you to selectively pick what colors to bring back.

The B&W Apps: There are a vast amount of black and white photo apps in the App Store and before too long they start to run together making it hard to tell one from the other. Evans has two "go-to" favorites he uses on his own images. 1.Spica-Super Monochrome (cost$1) does one thing best. It can turn your image into a grainy, high-contrast, black and white shots that look like they were taken with an old-school film camera. 2.Vint B&W is one part of a series of four apps called Vint. Evan thinks Vint is the overall best B&W app, with good tones and the ability to take nice photos even in dark conditions.

Using modern day multiple monitor technology, you can now get your pictures and/or products branded in a message that will effectively touch more people than has ever been possible. Digital advertising is cost-effective, quickly deployed, remotely updated and managed, and more focused that most other types of media. Get spectacular eye-catching effects that can reach your target audience even better than previously imagined.

Enhance your image in a big way with the 82” NEC LCD8205, a professional-grade display that delivers big-screen performance and capabilities for your corporate and digital signage applications. Its sheer size (landscape orientation provides an active screen area of almost six feet in width and more than three feet in height) captures the attention of audiences both near and far. And with full high-definition resolution, lightning-quick response times, the widest possible viewing angles and high brightness/contrast, your images and messaging keep all eyes on the screen. This level of performance makes this display ideal for corporate lobbies and boardrooms, digital signage applications and tradeshows/events, leaving positive, lasting impressions.

The iVu4 video wall / Multi-Screen controller helps in combining 4 (2x2) LCD displays to produce a large video wall. The iVu4s receives and displays the images or video content on any size LCD monitor with a selectable display mode and supports a maximum resolution of up to 1920x1080 per display. The iVu4 is compatible with any brand of LCD display and suitable for large display applications in large advertising, medical imaging, simulation inc. flight, radar, gaming etc.., shopping centers, public gathering locations, fairs and exhibitions, sporting or music events.

To buy a large display for advertisement, for example 64 or 84 inches LCD, is too high to afford. A video wall is a group of smaller displays tiled together in a matrix to create one large display. We provide the controller box that drives the display over multi-screens. All the video wall controllers support different configurations of the video output signals. The videowall control (OSD) buttons are located on the front panel of the video wall controller for easy access, while all the video and power cables are connected to the rear panel for convenient cabling. The video controllers can be connected to LCD or DLP panels, video wall cubes, projectors or any monitor that accepts a DVI input signal.

Gaming Junkies Gather Round | The Multiple Monitor Display

Set to launch in June, the cloud gaming service OnLive, a new gaming service that will allow people to "stream" popular games like "Assassin's Creed II" over the Internet. This new system is said to work much like watching TV shows or listening to music online.

OnLive will be available to Mac and PC users via a browser plug-in that will let you play games hosted from OnLive's servers. This is what's becoming commonly known as "cloud computing." That also means that players can buy or rent games with older, less powerful computers, without having to purchase a console such as Xbox or PS3.

OnLive also promises to release a "MicroConsole" device, which will let you play games on your TV, later this year. Along with other devices added subsequently, OnLive also will be allowing multi-player user ability on all the game platforms. Making it easier to get your gaming party started.

Steve Perlman founder and CEO said "We want to slow the impact of people jumping on to our servers just a little bit."

The "MicroConsole" -launching later this year, will be a inexpensive, cassette-sized adapter that plugs into a TV set to stream games. OnLive expects to see the tiny console to be more popular than its PC and Mac streaming service.

In addition to the perks of not having to actually have hardware and software, OnLive is a service: like other online gaming services, you'll get gamer tags, profiles, the ability to make friends, and chat-but the kicker is that all of this is done via live video.

Many people are asking whether the company's servers and players' broadband connections would be able to handle streaming without a lag that would disrupt playing with pauses and glitches. Perlman said it's working, and "assuming you have a decent Internet connection," gamers who've been testing the service are "playing normally."

With Youtube and tons of other Flash based videos, it may be easy to assume that streaming video games would be the next big thing. However, streaming video games is a bigger challenge than music and movies, because games cannot be easily compressed into smaller files before streaming over the Internet. That is due to the idea that games are interactive, and requiring instant responses from the game to players. That way, when you shoot at your enemy, for example, the game must respond in real time without missing a beat.

The first company in its industry to offer streaming high-end video games, says it has come up with a new form of compression that lets its game servers communicate with players over broadband connections in real time.

With big names like Electronic Arts Inc., Ubisoft, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc. and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, the service is well vested. Of course, all services come with a cost, and OnLive will run $15 per month, though you will probably see some multi-month deals before the service hits the mainstream in June. In addition to that, you'll have to rent or purchase the titles that you want to play, however no specific pricing has been mentioned yet.

This could mean more computer monitors for PC gamers. Without the need to have high end machinery to process all the data evolved it would be easy to utilize that extra energy towards a dual monitor or multiple monitor LCD display. Flight Simulator is a great game to have several monitors for which systems are generally built around the software. With streaming games you can play an untold number of games in which you could turn your computers monitors into a multi-monitor view. Ever launch Excel or Internet Explorer and have to wait a whole half a minute or even up to a minute for the program to open and become usable? Sometimes when you close your browser, does a window on your computers monitor appear saying that "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem," and asks you to "send error report?" Your computer may even run fine outside of this, however if your programs are taking a long time to open, then it may be because your system does not have adequate amounts of RAM.

RAM stands for Random Access Memory and is used as a temporary storage place for memory by your computer. This memory is in use when tasks are being executed by different programs. Therefore, you should have enough RAM memory to process all the tasks you would be requiring of the computer at hand. If you don't have enough RAM it will cause a major slowdown of your computer while it is booting up or even just regular processing tasks.

Anything less than 1GB of RAM is not enough nowadays for basic operations. Check and see how much RAM you have by clicking Start, then right-click over "My Computer" and selecting "Properties" from the drop-down menu. Sometimes it can take a moment for the page to populate and once it does, it will tell you how much RAM you have installed on that computer.

Increasing RAM is relatively inexpensive however, please note that RAM is not a universal in its compatibility, so before buying, you need to know what kind of RAM you computer uses. Installing the wrong RAM can lead to several different problems all together.

When considering an increase in RAM on your computer, keep in mind that you are adding a physical piece of hardware to the computer. Be sure you understand that there are some risks involved if you don't perform due diligence in understanding the RAM requirements of your motherboard.

Find out what the maximum amount of RAM that you can install in your computer. This can generally be easily found at your computer manufacturer's website. Look up the speed and type of RAM you need for your computer so that you know what memory chips are supported by your motherboard. SIMMs (Single Inline Memory Modules) or DIMMs (Dual In-Line Memory Modules). Also while on the PC manufacturer's website find out how many slots you have for additional RAM.

Getting to your RAM in a typical desktop computer is a moderately easy task. Unplug the power cord from the back of your computer. Open the case as shown in your computer manual. In most cases you don't even need the manual to show you how to do this. It is generally a simple matter of unscrewing one or two screws on the back or bottom of the computer and exposing the computer's motherboard.

Locate your RAM slots. If all of your memory banks are full, you may need to replace your RAM rather than just install more.

To remove old RAM press apart the securing clips on both ends of the RAM slot, and the module will pop up slightly. Lift the RAM module straight up and out of the memory slot.

To install the new RAM line up the notched edge of the RAM module with the tab on the bottom of the RAM slot. The RAM only fits if you line it up correctly so you don't have to worry putting it in backwards. Press straight down on the module, applying firm but gentle pressure on both ends until it clicks in place, and the securing clips will snap into place.

Replace your computers cover and reattach the power cords and cables. Power up the computer and the system should automatically recognize the new memory.

You should be good to go. Now if that sounded like too much to do then it probably is and you may want to consider purchasing a Super PC computer that can house all the RAM you would ever need the 1st time around. With a Super PC Multiple Monitor Computer you may also use dual monitors instead of a single, and they're upgradable to 16 monitors! They also have the industries leading turnkey multiple LCD Display adapters.

Always take measures to ground yourself when working inside your computer to avoid damaging the chips and electronics.

Use only the memory types supported by your computer. For a list of those, see the manufacturer specifications in your computer manual.

Install paired memory in the order shown on the system board.

Always install a single memory module in the DIMM connector 1 before installing memory modules in any other connectors.

Do not mix old and new memory modules if possible.

Things You Should know About Multiple Monitor Computers! 1of2

GET THIS

If you have purchased some new graphics card upgrades for you PC & want to know how to put together say up to four monitors, then you'll want to check out this article, How to Build a Quad Monitor Display. That’s better than having to always go back to the main monitor to find an application, usually among many others, in the taskbar. Our daily schedule is filled with chores, and things to do. The modern day revolution of technological breakthroughs in office/business/personal needs can often become hard to keep up with. All in all, the more we can get done in an hour, the better, and not the other way around. With that in mind, consider a dual monitor video card. The productivity benefits came not only in apparent gains but actually relieved stress and tension associated with my increasing frustration. Frustrations that stemmed from the “single monitor blues” that is. Of course I have written about how easy it is to setup a multiple monitor system including but not limited to adding a dual monitor video card, to using a dual monitor adapter. So we already know how easy it is to create multiple monitor displays. Now we’re going to look at how to make the most of your multiple monitor setups. Here are 5 tips on efficiency using dual screen monitors that have worked for me. If you have a multi screen computer these tips will benefit you as well but to keep it simple this blog will address dual monitor backgrounds. It may be a mystery as to how many different terms we can think of when we refer to any Dual Monitor Setup or larger to be connected to a single computer, and controlled by a single mouse and keyboard. This type of Multiple Monitor setup allows you to visually interface with more than one program at any given moment in time, as well as compare charts, and use the "copy and paste" function across a Dual Monitor Wallpaper without the need to install additional expensive and unecessaryover priced and over rated Dual Monitor Software.

Do multiple monitors increase productivity?

Do you remember that old saying we heard as a child and can still hear it ring on. Even in todays fast paced superhighway people still know that "two heads are better than one". We the same aspect literally applies to your display setup. I have been using Multiple Monitors for years, and I have noticed a true increase in productivity, every time I upgrade to a system to support more monitors. It's true that Dual Screens are better than one. Another great thing about it that you do not even need extra software necessarily. So far I have three monitors on my main computer and two on my side kick pc upstairs. You can get a Dual Monitor Video Card and add another monitor fairly easily, or if your graphic needs aren't so high you might even get by with using only a Dual Monitor Adapter for adding a Dual Monitor. Many people who have never used a multi-monitor PC may not understand the true advantage of this technology, and dismiss the idea as novel. On the other hand, an individual who utilizes multiple monitors knows about the power of visualization and organization, and feels as if they have discovered a wonderful secret for business multi-tasking.

Multiple Monitors for Day Traders

Ask any of those who Trading Computers and they will tell you that when it comes to staying up-to-date means staying open to new windows. That in itself is a big testament to how useful and productive you can be with multiple monitors. If the Wall Street big dogs are using them, you know it’s going to be an effective tool. In fact, using multiple monitors for stock trading is guaranteed to make you a better trader.
Back when I used to take calls from Day Traders, they would always prefer a single machine that could support a Multi Monitor Taskbar and more times than not they would choose the Power Trader Pro offered by Super PC. Talk about one hotrod of a personal deasktop computer, the Power Trader Pro probably stands as the best Trading Computer on the market. For Example: You can view charts on one screen and run your trading software on another all at the same time. If you use more than two screens don't worry aboiut it! You can watch your live news streams on a third monitor or perform internet research without the risks of losing your current view. You can even copy and paste across all the monitors you have going, rather than maximizing and minimizing windows over and over again and again.

Dual Screen Setup

If you’re currently using or plan to use Windows XP or Vista, did you know that you can configure your desktop run Multi-Screen Displays?

Here is a very helpful video for Windows Vista users. You can just continue to read through the article and/or if something doesn’t make sense, just watch the video below for a clear demonstration with instructions on how to enable Multiple Monitors on your computer, but will most likely (but not absolutely) need at least one if not more Multi Monitor Video Card.

Windows XP Users:

As a side note, you should be aware that in a Multi Monitor Setup one of the monitorswill serve as the primary monitor which will display the login dialog upon start up of your pc. Most all of the items you open will default to the primary monitor. One of the greatest things is that you can actually select completely different resolutions for each screen as well as adjust the color settings individually. To connect up your Multiple Monitor System you will need additional video outlets or one (or more) of the easy to use and truly a no brain-er "so easy a caveman can do it" Multi-Monitor Adapters offered by the company that brings us the productivity machine that is gaining steam as an authority and known worldwide as Super PC. It's the type of simple yet dependable Multiple Monitor video adapter that will allow you to take full advantage of the awesome productivity gains you would expect to get when using a Multi-Screen solution without the daunting need to install expensive, over-rated, over-priced, off the chain and unnecessary multiple monitor software.

Configuration Step: Here we go!

1) Go to START -> CONTROL PANEL

2) Select APPEARANCE AND THEMES -> DISPAY

3) Select the SETTINGS TAB and click IDENTIFY which will display a large number on each of the monitors. This shows which monitor is going to correspond with each icon.

4) Click the icons and drag them to the real world position in which the monitors are set up.
Click APPLY or OK

That’s almost just about it, your screen will most likely flash and Windows may ask you if you’d like to keep the settings and if all is well and everything looks good, then go ahead and hit OK. Viola! You now have a Multi Screen / Multi Monitors to work with. Enjoy!

To change the primary monitor in Windows XP you can do the following:

Steps:

1) In SETTINGS TAB of the Display Properties Dialog box, click once on the monitor icon that you would like to make the primary monitor.

2) Click to select the USE THIS DEVICE AS PRIMARY MONITOR check box. This box will not be available if you select the monitor that is already your primary monitor.

Windows Vista Users

Note: Windows Vista is designed to be a little more user friendly. When I plug in my additional monitor, Windows automatically sets it up for me, MOST OF THE TIME. So, I’ve included these directions for the times when Windows is unable to set up your monitor on its own. Also, as mentioned above, I’ve included a short video for the Vista setup, just in case you have trouble finding anything.

Configuration Step:

1) Go to the START button (actually, it’s the circular Window logo in the bottom left hand corner of the screen on most Vista desktops.)

2) Select CONTROL PANEL from the right hand column.

3) If you are in Classic View, then select CONTROL PANEL HOME.

4) Under the Appearance and Personalization, click ADJUST SCREEN RESOLUTION

5) Now you should see two or more black boxes if you’ve already connected your additional monitor. The icons are representations of the real world position of your monitors. You can drag and drop the icons so that they accurately represent where your multiple monitors are located on your desk.

6) Now select the additional monitor by click the icon and make sure the check box below that says, "Extend the desktop onto this monitor" is selected, then click APPLY. Once complete, this process will enable your Multiple Monitor Setup to perform seamlessly and allow you to navigate through all monitors.

7) You may see the screen flash, and the desktop should now be extended to show Dual Screens. You should get a little pop up that asks if you’d like to keep these settings. If everything looks good, click OK. If something isn’t right, click CANCEL button and try one more time from the top.

There you go! Just about everything you need to know to setup your Multiple Monitor Display. Now you can finally paste that old black lab lounging peacefully on the old wood porch (like great Grandpa had in the Ozarks of MO) as a Dual Monitor Wallpaper. Or you can even go a step further than that. It all depends on the individual as to what type of Dual Monitor Backgrounds he or she may or may not use. In a world that strives to be politically correct, it's good to know that there's a Multi-Monitor Display on your desk to show all the different colours of diversity simultaneously!

Multi-Screen Setup

1) The best overall thing to start out on, is purchasing a Multi-Monitor Computer from multi-monitors.com. Only then will you have the full capability of harnessing full range, unadulterated, no holds barred Multiple Monitors. They are the masters of the Dual Monitor Setup and of Multiple Monitor computers. With they're own brand rightfully coined as Super PC, they carry a Dual Monitor Adapter that really kicks butt for a little plug and play gadget that anybody that has an extra VGA outlet can use as a Dual Monitor Cable. Best of all they offer the best quality with the best price, and are some of the original pioneers for this new breed of multi-tasking super powers.

2) If you get a USB to VGA Adapter, or the USB to DVI Adapter (links above) that will allow you to add an extra monitor to your computer via any USB 2.0 port. You can also add multiple extra monitors by using multiple adapters however not recommended over a Dual Monitor Video Cardor more. This is a great option for viewing documents, surfing the web, using Microsoft office and most all those other business applications that can tend to slow down productivity by forcing the user to toggle between windows on a single monitor display. however, this may not be the best application for intense graphical situations such as HDTV, Blue-Ray, Gaming and 3D/CAD Workstation applications and so forth. For those types of applications, its highly recommended that you purchase a high-powered Multi-Screen computer from multi-monitors.com.

3) You can replace or add an extra video card to your existing computer, depending on how many monitors you want to support. Although this may sound easy to do on paper, in reality it can be complex solution for a newbie/novice beginner, especially when trying to find a compatible graphics card to support things such as Dual Monitor Wallpaper and other Dual Monitor Backgrounds without having to install Dual Monitor Software.

Once you have your Multiple Monitor System set up and ready to abuse, you will need to enable all of your monitors in your "Display Properties" in the Control Panel Section. Here is a splendid link to a virtual Multiple Monitor Setup in the Windows Control Panel.

A few other options may include getting a Multi Monitor Video Card and go with Multiple Monitor Displays. It make much difference in the setup in Windows Control Panel if you have a Multi-Monitor Display over a Dual Monitor Display like this. For example if you were a stock guru that uses a Trading Computer to support your Multi Monitor Setup then obviously plugging in an adapter or two may not be the most efficient way to ensure those stock quotes are humming along as fast as you would like. The refresh rate may lower with the adapters. For laptop users check out these Multiple Monitor Laptop Systems.
